We had 11 days of absolutely beautiful weather between India and Egypt. The hardest part was remembering
that we were still in school and keeping up with homework. I was actually swamped with work, but any time that I
didn't need my computer I made it outside to soak in the rays while doing a little reading. (Rough huh?) One night Shane and
I slept outside and woke up at 4:00 in the morning to watch the sunrise (pictured left). We also saw some amazing sunsets (pictured right). |

After CORE class one day Shane and I went outside to take pictures of the beautiful day and look for dolphins.
Most of the time I have spent outside I've been actively looking for dolphins. Almost everyone on the ship has spotted dolphins
on several occasions, but not me. I'm a little bitter because I wanted to see dolphins more than anything, but they always showed
up right after I'd leave to go inside. The picture on the right of Shane and Kelly was taken at yet another beautiful sunset, but
I couldn't capture both faces and the sunset at the same time. A picture just doesn't do justice to the beuty I've seen on this trip. |

These pictures may not seem very exciting, but I had to include them to try to portray the beautiful ocean. We
had a few days where the ocean looked like a rippley mirror, there were no waves, it was very smooth! We could see flying
fish soaring all over the water. The picture on the left is a flying fish, and the picture on the right is of the sun
sparkling off the water. The background of this page is yet another sample of the beautiful ocean. |

November 7, was one of three days that we have on the ship that we don't have classes. Instead we had an all-ship
Olympics where the different seas (the halls we live on) competed for the glory of getting off the ship first in Miami.
Kelly and I live on the Andaman sea. The night before we had a lip synch competition. The Andaman Sea by far had the best
lip synch, but for some unknown reason we did not place. Rumor has it that we either ran over the time limit or offended
the judges or both. Anyway, we did a Semester at Sea anthology with a song for each country. Kelly is a Kung Fu fighter
in Hong Kong in this picture. The professors, staff, and sr. passenger team was called Titanic. Our Professors gave us
quite the shock when they dressed up as the slightly altered Spice Girls. |

The Andaman Sea was pumped the morning of the Olympics. We all lined up on Prom deck and did warmup exercises.
We had a big banner and all made matching wife-beater shirts with a skull and crossbones on it. Sporting her wonderful
Andaman Sea wife-beater Maria waves at the camera as we all wait for the opening ceremonies to begin. |
 |
 |
All decks of the ship were crowded with people as they overlook the different events. Andaman hung a banner
in a prime location where everyone could see the message, "We all know who SHOULD be in first," refering to our unfortunate
lip synch placement, or lack thereof. |
 |
 |
The only event I participated in was the Tug-of-War. Yes, Andaman rules! Kelly was our anchor, and the only
team we lost to was team Titanic (faculty and staff). They had some huge people on their team and caught us off guard,
but we put up a very good fight. Trevor, Kelly's roommate, is in the front, and I am the third person you can see in each
picture (I think you can at least see my sunglasses & the top of my head). |
 |
 |
One of the four events that Kelly was in was called "Make Me Laugh." He tried to make a panel of one person from
each sea laugh. As much as the rest of us laughed, only one of those stone faced people laughed. Kelly tucked his shirt &
shorts up and imitated a California valley girl. Another event was the Synchronized Swimming competition. Andaman Sea
came in second with their "Yellow Submarine" act. |
 |
 |
We also had a couple of birthdays. Mel's birthday was on November 8th and we had a little party for her at lunch.
We had another party the next evening for Jen Altman, Kelly's girlfriend. No, she's not with us, she's in Venezuela, but
we celebrated her birthday anyway as if she were there. Her birthday was actually November 7, but because of the Olympics
we had a belated birthday for her. |

Kelly and I invited our roommates and Shane to the small party. Our party game was pin Kelly on Jen. I spun him
around he staggered towards Jen's picture on the wall. With a little bit of direction from the crowd he made it. Next,
Jen played (well actually it was just the camera, but as far as we were concerned that was one in the same). |
